Fluffy Is Coming Back To Deadwood – Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias To Play June Date At Deadwood Mountain Grand

DEADWOOD, S.D. (04/10/23) – Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is one of America's most successful stand-up comedians performing to sold-out concerts around the world. He is also one of the most watched comedians on YouTube with almost a billion views and has over 25 million fans across social media. He’s following up a previous sold out show at Deadwood Mountain Grand with a new date on Sunday, June 25th.

In 2018, Iglesias was included in The Hollywood Reporter’s “Top 40 Comedy Players” issue alongside comedy giants Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Lorne Michaels. The comedian has also had the distinct honor of being one of the few to headline and sell-out Madison Square Garden in New York, Staples Center in Los Angeles and Sydney Opera House in Australia.

Iglesias is the star and executive producer of Mr. Iglesias, the multi-cam, Netflix original comedy series, which is currently streaming Part 1-3. Iglesias plays a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater. He takes on teaching gifted but misfit kids to not only save them from being “counseled out” by a bully bureaucrat Assistant Principal, but also to help them unlock their full potential. In 2020, the show won best Primetime Comedy at The Imagen Awards, which recognizes positive portrayals of Latinx actors/actresses in the entertainment industry

In addition to the Netflix comedy series, Iglesias penned a deal with Netflix to release his next two stand-up comedy specials for the streaming service. The first, titled One Show Fits All, was filmed in front of a sold-out audience at the Toyota Center in Houston and debuted in January 2019. The second, Stadium Fluffy premiered on October 18th on Netflix. The special was taped in front of a sold-out crowd of 50,000 fans at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on May 6th and 7th, where Iglesias made history as the first comedian to perform at the iconic venue. Dodger Stadium is also the largest MLB stadium in the US.

Both of these specials are follow-ups to his highly successful 2016 special, I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry, which was filmed at the Allstate Arena in Chicago to two sold-out shows with a total of 20,000 fans in attendance.

Feature film credits include co-starring roles in Magic Mike, Magic Mike XXL and A Haunted House 2. Gabriel’s voice has been heard in many animated films including the recent Space Jam: A New Legacy as “Speedy Gonzales” streaming on HBOMAX. In 2017, Iglesias voiced the role of “Head Clerk” in Pixar’s Academy Award nominated animated film Coco. He also voiced “Babo” in Ugly Dolls, “Rufus the Dog” in Sony’s Golden Globe nominated animated holiday film The Star and “Cuatro” in Fox 20th Century Film’s Academy Award nominated animated film Ferdinand. Gabriel is one of a handful of comedians with a theatrically released stand-up concert comedy film, The Fluffy Movie.

On the small screen, Fluffy’s Food Adventures, a non-scripted comedic docu-follow series completed a 3-season run on FUSE TV in 2017. Gabriel was a recurring guest star on the ABC sitcom Cristela, and also guest-starred in an episode of ABC’s hit comedy Modern Family. Comedy Central aired Iglesias’ hit series Stand-Up Revolution for 3 seasons. Comedy Central also aired Gabriel Iglesias: Aloha Fluffy in an unprecedented two-night comedy special to over 15 million viewers. The special was a follow-up to his previous DVD specials, Hot & Fluffy and I’m Not Fat...I’m Fluffy, which have sold millions of copies.

Gabriel Iglesias is the youngest of six children, raised by a single mother in Long Beach, CA. It was during his childhood that he developed a strong sense of humor to deal with the obstacles he faced. In 1997, he set out to hone his comedic skills, and performed stand-up anywhere he could find an audience; including biker bars and hole-in-the-wall joints. Gabriel’s stand-up comedy is a mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring his personal experiences to life. His unique and animated comedy style has made him popular among fans of all ages.

Rising Country Star Randall King To Play Deadwood Mountain Grand

DEADWOOD, S.D. (04/03/23) – One of the fastest growing stars in country music will make a stop at Deadwood Mountain Grand when Randall King takes the stage in support of his new album “Shot Glass” on Thursday, July 6th.

Take a seat at any old roadhouse bar and look to your left and right. Some people will be there drinking for fun, and others to forget. But on “Shot Glass”, the major label album debut from Warner Music Nashville’s Randall King, none of them are drinking alone.

A country-music purist whose style carries on an original American art form –with all its highs and lows included – King is something of a study in contrast, and his album is too. He often sounds like he just stepped out of a time machine, full of upbeat honky-tonk swagger and flashing the thoughtful gaze of Western poet. But he’s also got a thoroughly modern edge, driven to prove timeless tradition can co-exist with the pop-country mainstream. And it all comes together on “Shot Glass”.

Four years after his independent self-titled album kicked things off, the West-Texas native has now made the move to Music City, marking the start of a whole new chapter. He’s following a pair of visionary EPs with a top-shelf concept album–and in the process, buying all of classic country another round. “I’m that rowdy honky-tonk artist,” King says with conviction. “But I’ve got music and roots that go deeper than just beer-slingin’ tunes. There’s a lot of depth.”

Inspired by everyone from George Strait and Keith Whitley to Dierks Bentley and Eric Church, King grew up on the endless plains and endless highways of a mythical place in the American story –but its famous ways were never mere fantasy to him. The hardscrabble days, wild nights and heartbreaks were all just part of an everyday cycle, and his music continues to capture that mystique.

Back with producers Bart Butler and Ryan Gore – the team behind contemporaries like Jon Pardi who also guided King’s recent “She Gone” and “Leanna” EPs –King refuses to settle for the lowest-common denominator. Each track on “Shot Glass” reveals another aspect of the only life he knows, and the people who live it. Sometimes that means joy, sometimes sadness. But above all, it’s real. “If there’s any kind of manufactured, fake aspect to it, it’s not gonna work for me,” says the singer-songwriter, who would have been a third-generation trucker had music not intervened. “I’m not an actor, so I’m gonna give you exactly who I am, where I’m from, and the things that reflect me, my upbringing ... my West-Texas roots.”

With 11 songs in total, King co-wrote eight on “Shot Glass”, each one digging deeper into his world. Not just high times on a Friday night, but also the harsh truth of hard work with an uncertain future, romantic dreams dissolving into mirage and saying goodbye to those you love ... far, far too soon. Further honing the bright honky-tonk textures that feature willowy steel guitars, twangy melody riffs and a dynamic vocal – equally at home on a roadhouse riser or inside a country-church chapel – King and his team continued to serve up the gritty and the beautiful on “Shot Glass”... leaving extra room for a fiddle chaser.

Tickets go on sale for Deadwood Mountain Grand Reward Members at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 4th and to the general public at 10 a.m. Frida, April 7th. “When we heard we had an opportunity to host an iconic band like Three Dog Night once again at Deadwood Mountain Grand we jumped at the chance,” said Susan Kightlinger, General Manager. “They have an unbelievable amount of hit songs and their live performances are outstanding, so we know it’s going to be a great show!”

Grand Funk Railroad With Jefferson Starship Announce Date At Deadwood Mountain Grand

DEADWOOD, S.D. (12/12/22) – “You cannot talk about rock in the 1970s without talking about Grand Funk Railroad!” - David Fricke, Rolling Stone Magazine. This quote sums up the legacy that is Grand Funk Railroad. The iconic band joins forces with Jefferson Starship for a one-night-only performance at Deadwood Mountain Grand on Thursday, April 13th.

Originating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, this top selling American rock group of the 70’s is “Comin’ To Your Town To Help You Party Down!”  Grand Funk Railroad is extremely excited to be touring in 2023 marking a 54-year milestone. After playing to millions of fans on the band’s tours from 1996 to 2022, Grand Funk’s 2023 Tour with Jefferson Starship will continue to reach both new and long-time fans.

Known as “The American Band,” the high-energy five-piece group will play forty shows all over the USA this year. Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, “We’re an American Band”) and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God of Thunder.” Joining Don and Mel are true “All Stars.” Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special. Max penned and sang 38’s highest-charting hit Second Chance and was co-founder of California’s legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don refers to Max as “the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet.”

Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS and also has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk.) Keyboardist Tim Cashion has a master’s degree in music from the University of Miami. Affectionately called “Dr. Tim,” his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and English soul man Robert Palmer.

Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. The fact that Grand Funk’s legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape fifty years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Michigan is a testament to the group’s influence and staying power.

Mega-hits “We’re an American Band”, “ I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home”, “Locomotion”, and “Some Kind of Wonderful”  still receive continuous airplay on

Classic Rock radio. “We’re an American Band” has received notoriety in recent years being used in movie soundtracks and in television/radio advertising. The huge hit was featured in a General Motors national TV ad campaign and in Disney’s animated feature film “The Country Bears”. The song was also featured in the Cuba Gooding Jr. film “RADIO”, and also in the swashbuckler “SAHARA” starring Matthew McConaughey.

The group’s widespread appeal is also evident in its prestigious recording achievements. Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, 8 Top 40 hits and two Number One singles “We’re an American Band” and “Locomotion”, both selling more than one million each. The group has now accumulated 13 gold and 10 platinum records with record sales in excess of 25 million copies sold worldwide.  The most recent gold CD award was presented to the band for their greatest hits package “Grand Funk Railroad the Collectors Series”.

The members of Jefferson Starship past and present have been exploring the mysteries of music for more than 1000 collective years. Give or take. But who's counting? Jefferson Airplane founding member Paul Kantner created Jefferson Starship with that collective spirit in mind and carried it with him throughout his life.

Kantner knew that combining powerful creative forces, personalities and talents could create something far greater than the sum of its parts. Between 1974 and 1984, Jefferson Starship released eight gold and platinum selling albums, twenty hit singles, sold out concerts worldwide and lived out legendary rock and roll escapades.

Today's Jefferson Starship remains dedicated to breathing new life into the living catalog of the Jefferson legacy, going to the edge, pushing the sonic boundaries and staying true to the original spirit of the music, on and off stage.

In 2014-15, the band played a series of free concerts for America's Veterans and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the US Department of Defense.

Co- founder David Freiberg also started another Fillmore- era San Francisco band, Quicksilver Messenger Service, who often shared the bill with the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. David is a world class singer, producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist. He was also a member of Jefferson Airplane, and co- wrote one of Jefferson Starship’s all-time biggest hits, “Jane” – which he sings. David is the band's Buddha and guru. If you get into the same room with David, you will be blessed.

Donny Baldwin became part of the San Francisco music scene in the early 70s growing up there. From 1973 to 1978 Donny was with the Elvin Bishop Band. During this time he toured and recorded six albums, which included the #1 hit single, “Fooled Around and Fell In Love”. Donny was a member of Jefferson Starship from 1981 to 1989. In January 1994, he joined the Jerry Garcia Band. He has toured and recorded with Kenny Loggins, Pablo Cruise, Chuck Berry, Van Morrison, Ronnie Montrose, Greg Allman, Heart, Lydia Pense & Cold Blood, .38 Special and Eddie Money. Donny returned to Jefferson Starship in 2008. His driving, rock solid grooves are the backbone and his super- high harmonies provide a glorious sheen to the sound of the band.

Cathy Richardson joined Jefferson Starship in 2008, and anchors the historic role made famous by Grace Slick. Her professional credits include fronting her own bands- CRB, Macrodots and Nelson Street Revival- producing and releasing seven independent albums. She was nominated for a GRAMMY Award for Art Direction of Cathy Richardson Band’s 2003 release, “The Road to Bliss." She starred as Janis Joplin in the original Off Broadway cast of “Love, Janis” and also in Chicago, Sag Harbor, NY, San Francisco, Phoenix and Tucson and has toured the US as lead singer with Janis' original band, Big Brother and the Holding Co. Cathy recently released a download-only single, What I Am, available on iTunes.

Chris Smith joined Jefferson Starship in 1998, instantly winning the job of keyboardist, after touring with the Supremes and Lou Bega. Chris' film and television music has been heard on dozens of shows including the #1 rated series “CSI” and the Academy Awards telecast. In 2000, he assumed the seeming impossible task of playing piano AND (synth) bass simultaneously. Chris has been keyboardist longer than any in the band’s history. Chris grew up in the suburbs of Connecticut and currently resides in Los Angeles.

Lead guitarist Jude Gold jumped in for a 10 country, three- month international tour with 48 hours’ notice- when Slick Aguilar had to drop out to deal with a life threatening illness- and continues to this day to freak us all out with his awesomeness. Jude's innovative, monster chops take the Jefferson songbook to new dimensions and have made him an irreplaceable ingredient to the band's sound. Jude has toured with contemporary stars Miguel Migs, Stu Hamm and JGB.  He's an instructor at Musician’s Institute, Los Angeles Editor at Guitar Player Magazine and host of the podcast, No Guitar is Safe.
