DEADWOOD, S.D. (05/12/25) – For more than 55 years, Tower of Power has delivered the best in funk and soul music. On Sunday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m., the iconic band will bring their “Oakland soul” sound to the stage at Deadwood Mountain Grand to round out Deadwood’s biggest weekend of the year—Kool Deadwood Nites.
Formed in 1968, Tower of Power rose to fame with their horn-driven sound, signature hits like “You’re Still A Young Man,” “Down to the Nightclub,” “So Very Hard to Go,” and “What Is Hip?”, and unforgettable live performances. Over the decades, they’ve backed legends including Otis Redding, Elton John, Santana, and Bonnie Raitt, while maintaining their own devoted following. Still led by founding member Emilio Castillo, the band’s live energy and tight grooves continue to wow fans across generations.
